Netflix has given the green light for Red Notice to film two more movies back-to-back. While Netflix declined an opportunity to comment, sources indicate that Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot will return for both films, with Rawson Marshall Thurber also expected back. Netflix is apparently in the early stages of setting up dual-shoot for both of its Red Notice sequels, which will continue the story of its starry trio.

Red Notice sold for big bucks in 2018. Though would believe that potential buyers were skeptical about a heist film starring Johnson, Reynolds, and Gadot? Were they high? Did they not calculate the star power of this group and fail to see dollar signs for days? It doesn’t matter because Netflix saw the writing on the wall and swooped in to scoop it up. At the time, it was the biggest commitment Netflix had ever signed on for, and thankfully for the streamer, it all paid off. As of November 30, 2021, Red Notice had clocked over 328 million total hours viewed on the streaming platform, making it Netflix’s biggest original movie to date. No wonder the streamer is looking to film a pair of Red Notice sequels back-to-back. After all, you’ve got to feed the monkey, right?

Filming two Red Notice sequels back-to-back speaks volumes about Netflix’s confidence in the franchise. Then again, filming anything these days is a Herculean effort due to the pandemic. It makes sense that Netflix would want to film both chapters back-to-back while having the band back together in one place. Of course, filming for the Red Notice sequels will depend on the schedules of its three stars, who are all very busy and are often hard to pin down.

What do you think about Netflix filming its Red Notice sequels back-to-back? Is this a smart move? Did you like the original film enough to tune in for two more? Let us know what you think of this development in the comments section below.
