We had #JusticeForHan, which ultimately resulted in Sung Kang returning as the character in Fast 9 after seemingly being killed off, and now the actor is suggesting fans should start a similar campaign to bring Gal Gadot back as Gisele.
During an interview with CinePop, Kang was asked if Fast & Furious would ever bring back Gisele, even though she also perished at the end of Fast and Furious 6. Speaking on the matter, Kang said, “Well, hey, anything is possible. If you guys start a hashtag ‘Bring back Gisele,’ it’s very possible.” Right after this declaration, however, Kang acknowledged that Gadot “is a little busy right now, she’s saving the world.” This is a reference to Gadot breaking out in a big way after she exited the Fast franchise when she landed the role of Wonder Woman.
Much like Sung Kang’s Han, Gal Gadot’s Gisele became an instant fan favorite. Gadot not only made her debut as Gisele in 2009’s Fast & Furious, but it was also her big-screen debut as an actress. The character returned in Fast Five in an expanded role as part of Dom’s (Vin Diesel) crew and her relationship with Han began to become more than platonic. The character returned in Fast & Furious 6 but she died during the climax of the film. We also thought Han died too at the hands of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and here we are with the character alive and well and once again a part of the crew.
While anything is possible, I think Gadot is a bit too busy to return even if she wanted to. The actress has never bad-mouthed her time on any of those films but she has expressed about only wanting to move forward and not looking back. No matter how big #BringBackGisele might get, it would ultimately come down to if Gadot actually wants to come back. Perhaps if the payday was substantial enough she would find a way to justify how she survived Fast & Furious 6 and we hardcore fans will accept whatever reason they give us.
Do YOU think Gal Gadot should return as Gisele?
